This
was the first Wh!tless I drew. Since I hadn’t drawn any comics in a
long while, I drew it “old school”, the way I did while I was in
college: just black and white pen and ink on card stock. Then I scanned
it in and added the balloons and dialogue in CorelDraw.
I had been
thinking about doing this strip for quite a while, so I had a long list
of the Pop Candy regulars, with ideas noted about what to draw for
their characters. I knew I couldn’t fit everyone in one panel, so I
just put in as many as I could get away with. I don’t think there was
any method to who got in this strip, vs. the next one, it just ended up
this way.
Some of the characters were easy to do. My favorite in
this piece is Ember. I don’t know where I came up with the idea, but
once I did, I had to use it. I am also really lucky that Ember is a
great sport, and has a great sense of humor. I think AJ came out pretty
good too.
