This
one came about as a parody of DC and Marvel comics, and because we had
a particularly bad week with the “gremlins”, those creatures who muck
with the Pop Candy servers, deleting comments, freezing screens, etc.
For the past two years, DC had published a huge story including all of
their characters, and they loved to use “crisis” in their epic titles.
Marvel had done something similar, but used “War” in their titles,
hence the “Gremlin Crisis War.”
Now I have to confess that the
Gremlin story arc wasn’t all planned at first. In fact when I drew this
strip, I had no idea where the story would go, or if I’d even continue
it. I simply thought it was a funny concept to have this epic story
title for this weird little web comic.
For this one I drew several
new panels, and did more with the coloring than I‘d done before. It
also features the debut of Patrick Cooper, the web Community guru at
USA Today, although I slipped him in with no fanfare.
