I’d
always known the last episode of the Gremlin series had to take place
in Vegas at CandyCon, it seemed natural. Once I got to drawing it, I
thought since people liked the series so much, I should do something
special, hence the double size comic. The last is just a panel of every
Whitness I’d drawn to that point.
For this one, I needed to draw
Whitney. I was never satisfied with the cartoon of her from the
“Twitter” comic, so I redrew her. It took me a long time, which I was
surprised at. Maybe I was just nervous!
I think this was a pretty satisfying ending, although there’s a lot of action going on here that’s not too well drawn.
I
got a few questions about why I never drew a character for
myself, and I don’t really know why. It’s one of those things that
seemed weird, me being the author and a character. But I didn’t have
any objections to it, so I added myself to the final frame. My
character is based on a cartoon/logo I used to draw in college. The
armor and helmet is supposed to be Greek armor, as in “Jason and the
Argonauts”. The kilt is supposed to represent my last name, Campbell.
The pencil is obvious, and the “c” on the shield is done with big
blocky pixels to represent my font work. Since I used to use Yoda as my
avatar all of the time, I put my cartoon in a swamp, and paraphrased
Yoda.
